Debussy Mandala #42
Debussy Mandala #42 features floral photography by Rita J Maggart, mandalas abstracted from the flowers and animated by David Turner. The music, Claude Debussy's "Claire de Lune" is arranged and performed by Geoff Koch. The visual intent was to create an ethereal underwater feel, and therefore all the 3D is behind the screen. 42 refers to the number of times this was rendered in the creation process (approximately 30 hours each).
The base image for Enchanted Forest is a blossoming tree in Springtime against a clear blue sky. The intricate details of the tree's branching foliage make for captivating depth. The intent was to create an ethereal underwater feel. The soundtrack "Washing Away" is by Jan Pulsford, and was coincidentally written during the Nashville Floods of 2010 while she was in London.
This mandalas dream sequence is composed of motion samples from Kaleida Dreams, Visions and Classics. Originally, these medallion animations were rendered for mobile devices by capturing frame sequences from the original masters and then reducing the frame counts to accentuate the motion. Those frames were re-animated in 3D space here. Mandala Medallions was created between September 2013 and February 2014. The visual intent was to show multiple combinations of timing, motion and depth, in the hopes of offering "a point of entry" for anyone of any vibration. The music, "Loop with No Name" is by Jan Pulsford. Tremendous gratitude goes to Bella for staying by my side and making sure I got this done just before she died.
Chopin Mandala features floral photography by Rita J Maggart, mandalas abstracted from the flowers by David Turner, and music, Chopin's "Waltz, Opus 69 #1" arranged and performed by Geoff Koch. The animation and 3D effects are by Digital Dave. The visual intent was to create an ethereal underwater feel, and therefore all the 3D is behind the screen.
Across The Lavender Seas
A recurring metaphor in Kaleida Visions is one of journeys. Journeys both inward to the soul and outward to the stars are celebrated. The geometry used here is from the original Visions 3D folio. The bulk of the color and motion choices were made while listening to Pachelbel's "Canon". After more than two years of development, I chose "Across the Seas" for the new soundtrack and finalized the animation while planning a trip to London, Edinburgh and Amsterdam. Music by Jan Pulsford.
Flower Swirls is a journey into the depths of self, featuring "Vox Humana" by Jan Pulsford. The base images for the animation are trees flowering in springtime. The grey rippling background is reminiscent of Winter's last chilly smudgings, while the inner glow of the slowly evolving flower mandalas swirls about.
Slow Green Bubbles
Slow Green Bubbles get its inspiration from the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory film, specifically the Fizzy Lifting Drinks scene where Charlie and his grandfather are lifted with bubbles to the swirling, bladed ceiling exit fans. Of course they survive...
The Mondrian-like tile background is from a 3D rendering named Unfinished. The abstract geometric work is an homage to the perfection of imperfection and to the idea of getting things done. Unfinished sat as an unfinished sketch for nearly 10 years before the scene was completed, rendered, printed to canvas and sold. Finis Kaleida encompasses the ideas within Unfinished and celebrates completion. The music, "Ripples of Indigo" is by Jan Pulsford.
3 Wave Mandala
3 Wave was originally created around 1996 from the geometry used to compose the ocean waves in the 3D work entitled Sea of Love. 3 Wave Mandala was rendered in 2014 and was inspired in part by the soundtrack "Refuge Bounce" by Jan Pulsford.
